The secret to healthy long locks

I’ve always been a long haired gal. I’ve never been brave enough to take the drastic chop! I lie ….I once had the ratherfetching 90′s favourite ’bowl cut’ ‘Helmut head’ ‘mushroom head’ I call it ‘humiliation head’. I’m very proud of my long natural hair, I never dye it, I rarely straighten it. I try my best to look after my hair naturally.

Here are a list of things I do to maintain my mane:

  • Water! Water! Water! – People bang on about this all the time and they’re right my friend! Within days of drinking a good amount of water you will notice not only great shiny hair but radiant, clear skin and strong fast growing nails.
  • Moroccan Oil – This is the ultimate product! If there’s one thing I can honestly say is worth the money and the hype it’s this. It works wonders for my hair and has the most beautiful fresh scent.
  • Perfectil hair, skin and nails supplements – I used these years ago when I was having a pretty stressful time and my hair started to fall out. I took it for around three months to work and it helped a lot.
  • Try extra hard not to blow dry your mane, even if you just cut it out a few times a week. Let your hair air dry and you’ll see how much shinier it is.
  •  Don’t put your hair in a bobble for bed – This can snag the hairs as you move around in your sleep resulting in those annoying short hairs that stick up. If you do like to keep your hair from your face it’s much better to roll it up into a loose bun on top of your head and bobby pin it in place.

Taking good care of your locks doesn’t have to be hard work,  and these tips are not really much of a secret! They are simple and effective (worked for me) follow these steps and you’ll most certainly notice healthier, bouncy hair, full of vitality.

Thanks! I really enjoy looking after my hair and even feel guilty when I straighten it once in a blue moon. It’s almost like I can hear it screaming “Nooooo, I’m burning!” or maybe I’m a little insane….lol ^_^

Oh my gosh – I’m absolutly jealous! You’ve just amazing long hair… and these curls, are those naturally?

I’ve to push my hair, they are very short and lazy. Your post is a perfect motivation.

Oh My, how I wish my hair was this long! This isn’t me though I’ve put a little link under the photo to her pinterest. I think she could we wearing extensions as the hair is so thick and long.

I know the feeling! of finding motivation to grow your hair out, it’s really difficult and gets boring after a while. I’m currently growing mine out and now and again I get that voice telling me “you need change!” and I have to resist every time!

These steps have helped me so much though. My hair grows much much faster and healthier than before.

Thanks for your comment, Good luck on growing yours out! :)

I’ve over read the small and tiny letters, but that doesn’t mean that I need glasses!
Great tip with the Moroccan Oil, and how happy I can order it via amazon :-) maybe it’s a good try. And my hair can use a good helper – too much styling iron *grml*

have a nice sunday, and I like your style of writing!

Thank you for your lovely comment. I hope you’ve been having a nice chilled weekend :) Moroccan oil really is fantastic, all of the Moroccan oil haircare range is amazing though, I haven’t looked back!

As soon as you stop heated styling, you’re hair will feel great. Mind you, you can use the oil before and after drying and straightening to improve the condition, really work on cutting the styling down though!

  4. I think it could be real hair – change the colour to black, make it curlier and you would have had my hair when I was young – oh s many years ago.. it was so think and long I was known as the girl with the hair and hairdressers groaned when they saw me coming as they couldn’t dry it!
It’s still think and curly – but at my current length – just off below shoulder – it is still quite frizzy and that is very difficult to deal with, but I agree the hair oils are good and improve the hair.
Thanks for stopping by my blog – I don’t write about fashion etc normally as i think at my age it is nice to be more eccentric than fashionable.. Hope to see you again soon.

Maybe it is, if so she’s a lucky gal! My hair is also thick and goes fuzzy but hair oil has changed all of that, if only these miracle it had been brought the the masses attentions long ago.

You’re very welcome :) Your blog has a nice calm vibe to it and that stands out against a sea of fashion/beauty blogs. It’s better to be eccentric full stop in my opinion, those are the most interesting people of all! ^_^
